What kinds of counseling do you offer?

We see a wide variety of people for individual, couples and pre-marital, and family counseling. In addition, we offer Career and Financial Counseling. See Services for more information.

How do I make an appointment with a counselor?

Please visit Getting Started page. Fill out the appropriate forms and either fax, email or mail them to us. When we receive your forms, we will match you to a counselor based on your needs. Our Services Coordinator will contact you within 48 hours to schedule your first appointment. We regreat that we are unable to accommodate walk-in appointments and cannot guarantee same-day appointments.

I've never gone to counseling before. What can I expect?

For counseling to be fruitful, you and your counselor must establish trust. It may take a few sessions for your counselor to get to know you before moving into actual therapy.

In the early stages, you can expect your counselor to ask many questions. Your counselor will work with you to define the presenting problem you’re seeking help with, discuss your goals for counseling and determine next steps.

Because counseling is dynamic and interactive, you should feel free to ask questions to help you connect with your counselor as you progress through the counseling experience together.

Where are you located?

1359 Broadway between 36th & 37th St on the 4th floor. Accessible by all major subways and buses, our office is only a 5-10 minute walk from Penn Station (NJ Transit, LIRR and Amtrak) and Port Authority Bus Terminal.

Do you have sessions in the evenings or on weekends?

We do have a limited number of evening and weekend sessions available, and will do our best to accommodate your scheduling needs.

How many sessions do I need?

Because each case is different, your counselor will ascertain your needs and discuss a treatment plan with you.

What if I need to cancel or reschedule my session?

You must notify your counselor 48 hours before your scheduled appointment time to cancel or reschedule. Otherwise, you will be responsible for the full fee. Please cancellation policy under "Sessions & Fees".

What if I am running late to my session?

Please contact your counselor directly by calling (212) 370-0475 plus the 4-digit extension for your counselor. Leaving a message on our general reception line does not ensure that your counselor will be notified.

Do you have a psychiatrist at RCS?

We have a consulting psychiatrist who is on-site once weekly. We also have a network of psychiatrists for referrals.

What are your fees?

Our fees are $160 for a 50-minute session, however we do have a sliding scale based on your income level. For more info, see Sessions & Fees.

Do you take any health insurance?

Unfortunately, we are not able to accept insurance at this time. However, we can provide a letter of receipt for you to file with your insurance company for possible reimbursement.

Do you accept credit cards?

We regret we are unable to accept credit cards. We accept cash or checks. Please make checks payable to "Redeemer Presbyterian Church" with your counselor's name in the memo. Payment is due at each session.

We are being married by a Redeemer pastor. Where do we sign up for the required one day premarital seminar?

RCS does not conduct the one-day premarital seminar required by Redeemer pastors. For more information on that seminar click here. RCS does offer premarital counseling which can complement the premarital seminar. Many couples choose to do both.

What is the Prepare/Enrich Inventory?

Prepare/Enrich is an assessment highly recommended by RCS counselors for pre-marital counseling. Pre-marital couples take Prepare/Enrich online and generally work through the results with a counselor in 3-4 follow up sessions.

How can I purchase the RCS Counseling Manual?
