Couples and Premarital Counseling

  • Couples Counseling - General
Though it is not required, all couples seeking counseling with RCS are encouraged to take the online couples inventory, Prepare/Enrich, see below.

  • Premarital Counseling
Though it is not mandatory, RCS recommends that engaged and pre-engaged couples complete the Prepare/Enrich Inventory, see below as a first step in premarital counseling. After completing the online inventory, couples then work through the results with a counselor in the course of 4 to 8 sessions.

  • Redeemer Premarital Seminar
Please note that RCS does not conduct the one-day premarital seminar for couples wishing to be married by a Redeemer pastor. For more information about that seminar, click here.

  • Prepare/Enrich - Couples Inventory
At RCS, the Prepare/Enrich can be taken by couples who are dating, engaged or married.

Prepare/Enrich is a customized couple assessment that identifies a couple's strength and growth areas. The inventory is completed online, and the results serve as the basis for discussion in a series of follow up counseling sessions. Based on a couple's assessment results, a trained counselor provides a number of feedback sessions through which couples:

    • Explore strength and growth areas
    • Strengthen communication and conflict-resolution skills
    • Identify and manage major stressors
    • Develop a more balanced relationship
    • Explore family of origin issues
    • Discuss financial planning and budgeting
    • Establish personal, couple and family goals
    • Understand and appreciate personality differences

Over 2.5 million couples have taken the Prepare/Enrich and it is one of the most extensively researched couple assessment tools in the world, with high levels of reliability and validity found in clinical studies.

To purchase the inventory online click here: Prepare/Enrich Inventory
To complete the intake forms, please contact the Services Coordinator for a username to access the online forms.

  • Myers-Briggs Inventory for Couples
The Myers-Briggs Inventory (MBTI) can also be taken by couples and used as the basis for couple's counseling at RCS. Couples can work through the assessment results with a counselor to explore growth areas in communication, conflict-resolution, and other personality dynamics.

Cost is $150.  To purchase two MBTI tests (one per adult) and to one follow up counseling session, click here.

Please note that some couples choose to use the MBTI as a follow-up tool to the Prepare/Enrich Program, and the two inventories are complementary.
