Marriage and Family 9:15 AM, Room: Hunter West Glass Cafe Sundays, April 7, 14, 21, 28 and May 5, 12 and 19 Instructors: Dr. Brent Bounds and Others This class will discuss pertinent issues every family faces at some point. Dr. Brent Bounds, Director of Family Ministries, will facilitate the classes along with other parents from our congregation. Topics will include materialism/stewardship; academic pressure; a two-part series on talking to children about sex; and the hurried family. The class will be interactive and practical so don’t miss out on this enriching time as a parent community. Spiritual Disciplines 12:10PM, Room: Hunter West Room 507 Sundays, April 7, 14, 21 and 28 Instructor: Steve Shaffer Many people yearn for a deeper connection with God, but aren't sure how to mature spiritually and pursue that type of connection with Him. Spiritual disciplines, from meditation and simplicity to confession and celebration, provide concrete and practical ways to create an environment where God can work in us and through us. This class will look at the obstacles we encounter when trying to develop greater intimacy with God and offer ways to combat those challenges in the midst of busy city life. Exploring Christianity 12:10PM, Room: Hunter West 508 Sundays, April 7, 14, 21, 28 and May 5 Instuctor: Daniel Lee and Chris McNerney Can the Christian faith withstand the challenges of the problem of evil, the discoveries of science and the doubts of our minds and hearts? Join us for a five-week Exploring Christianity class as we engage in lively discussion about the credibility of the faith. This class is geared primarily toward those who are unresolved in their faith and have questions about Christianity. Helping Others Change 12:10PM, Room: Hunter West 506 Sundays, April 7, 14, 21, 28 and May 5, 12 and 19 Instructor: Lois Kehlenbrink Registration: HERE. The goal of this curriculum is that people would learn to give and receive biblical help that doesn't only change and help them, but also changes the culture of their church and surrounding community. Case studies, lectures, and group discussions will help students grow in their ability to listen well, know people, interpret another person’s story from a biblical perspective, and offer biblically-based truth that will motivate others in their growth in Christ. Revelation 12:10PM, Room: Hunter West Room 505 Sundays April 7, 14, 21 and 28 Instructor: Jessica Hong The book of Revelation can seem confusing and generally people avoid the book altogether. This class will help provide a basic framework and address difficult questions surrounding Revelation. Why Work Matters 12:10PM, Room: Hunter West Room 507 Sundays, May 5, 12 and 19 Instructor: Amilee Watkins This will be a three-part class focusing upon the bookends of Scripture to help us understand the question of why God cares so much about the work that we do Monday through Friday. We'll explore these three topics: 1) Created to Work, 2) Loving our Work, 3) Empowered to Work. Relational Evangelism 12:10PM, Room: Hunter West Room 505 Sundays, June 2, 9, 16 and 23 Instructor: Lyn Cook Would you like to see God use you more effectively in communicating the gospel with your friends? Learn how we can be loving and prayerful in the relationships God puts in our lives as we speak clearly and winsomely about our faith. Topics include: relationships of integrity, transitioning to the gospel, sharing your story, and communicating the gospel. Living in Exile: Esther and Daniel 12:10PM, Room: Hunter West Room 508 Sundays, June 2, 9, 16 and 23 Instructor: Daniel Lee What does it look like to live in a society that constantly demands that you compromise your faith? Join us as we explore how biblical figures Esther and Daniel wrestled with how to engage their cultural environment yet remain true to their God. Encouraged by Philippians 12:10PM, Room: Hunter West Room 507 Sundays, June 9, 16 and 23 Instructors: Jessica Hong and Chris Mc Nerney How do we take the deep truths of the Bible, digest it, and apply it to our lives? This will be an introductory class on the book of Philippians. As we read this short but rich book, we will learn together as to how to digest and apply these truths in our everyday lives.
