Sunday Service Ministries

Want to know more about what you may be getting into? This page will give you a brief introduction to the five different ministry areas which make up Sunday Service Ministries. If you have more questions, feel free to contact Mark Horton, or, if a particular ministry grabs your interest, find one of the volunteers at church who serves in that area and ask questions!

All of our ministry teams rotate weekly, with each team serving once a month, and all teams are expected to meet together for prayer before they serve on their assigned Sundays.

At the WELCOME CENTER, our goal is to greet each and every person who comes to join us for worship. Volunteers are posted at the Center itself, and at each entrance to the auditorium in order to help guide attendees wherever they need to go, answer questions regarding the service, as well as distribute bulletins in the lobby whenever we are holding the during prayer times. If you are the outgoing type who enjoys meeting people and helping newcomers feel welcome, click here to join us.

USHERS not only welcome attendees as the Welcome Center volunteers do, but also go a few steps further by distributing bulletins, guiding attendees to available seating, collecting and counting offering, and by helping monitor the service so that any issues that arise are addressed quickly and efficiently, with as little disruption as possible. Because of the amount of work to be done, and the fact that they serve during the service, our Usher teams require the largest number of team members. People who enjoy bringing order out of chaos (and can do it graciously) should definitely sign up to join this ministry!

Our COMMUNION VOLUNTEERS gather on the first Sunday of each month to prepare the elements of, and serve, the Lord’s Supper. Because of the sanctity of this ministry, Redeemer specifies that only active members of the congregation should participate. On Communion Sundays, several team members arrive early in order to meet briefly with the Worship Leader before preparing Communion elements. During the service, the full team serves the elements to the congregation, as directed by the Worship Leader, and then several team members stay after the service to clean up. Regardless of your personality type, if you are a member of Redeemer, become a part of this ministry and enjoy a greater connection to the church.

After the service, INFORMATION TABLE team members are available to help attendees gain more information about Redeemer and its ministries – hence, the name! Brochures, booklets and other materials are provided for attendees who are seeking to get more acquainted with Redeemer, or who need direction to a particular resource. All the information you need to serve at the Info Center is provided for you right there, so you do not need to worry about learning everything beforehand. This ministry provides a great opportunity for those who are more comfortable with letting others initiate interaction. If you are more extroverted, though, it can be a great place for you, too! The BOOK TABLE ministry is a perfect place to serve if you enjoy reading, talking about, and recommending books. Working from a list of titles recommended by Redeemer staff, volunteers help direct people to some of the best theological reading available. As with the Communion team, volunteers are responsible for arriving early enough to get the tables set up prior to the service. Books are sold after the service during the Fellowship Hour. Afterward, volunteers break down the tables by putting the books away and ensuring that the inventory is stocked sufficiently. If you enjoy books and interacting with others who love reading, we would love to have you join us.
