Our first-time missions trip to the Philippines in 2014 was the beginning of a vibrant relationship with Heroes Church of Manila, Philippines, who hosted us.
Heroes Church, a Redeemer City to City church plant, is based in Bonifacio Global City (BGC), Manila, which is a recent metropolitan development by the local government. Impressive city-planning in this area has attracted many young working professionals, international real estate investors, outsourcing businesses and ex-pats. This demographic and setting highly contrasts with the surrounding neighborhoods of metro Manila which are densely populated, traffic ridden, and of low-income and high-poverty level homes and families.
This is a very relational trip. A large portion of our time will be spent continuing to build relationships with the congregants of Heroes church. Previous trips have included sharing many of our meals with different Heroes members/teams, attending and hosting various Community Groups, hosting a Testimony and Game Night, as well as a Worship and Prayer night. We explore the city together, learn from each other, and grow together in the Body of Christ.
In the past three years we have geared the trip toward Faith & Work events, but this year we are planning on a different focus due to changing needs. Our team will be co-hosting a series of "Seeker-friendly" events through the partnership of Heroes church. The aim of this day-long conference is to provide a safe and open outlet for people to talk about/question faith and to provide an opportunity for Heroes Church members to follow up after the event.
This trip is a good fit for those with a heart for Seekers, and are comfortable with either public speaking or moderating. We will be in comfortable lodging which we'll utilize for several of our congregant gatherings. Our trip dates are November 10 to 20, 2017.
