The Philip Series
Upcoming class: The Law of God and Ethics
Thursday, February 9, 2017
7:30 to 8:45 pm at W83 Ministry Center, 5th Floor
The Ten Commandments are one of the most well-known parts of the entire Bible. But they are also some of the most misunderstood parts of the Bible, too. Given as laws to ancient Israel thousands of years ago, what relevance do the Ten Commandments have for people today?
Join us at the Philip Series on February 9, 2017 as we explore how the Ten Commandments shape our life in the world today, and consider how Christ enables us to live under God’s law in a life-giving way.
What is The Philip Series?
'Do you understand what you are reading?' Philip asked. And the Ethiopian said, 'How can I unless someone explains it to me?' . . . Then Philip began with that very passage of Scripture and told him the good news about Jesus. (Acts 8:30b, 31a, 35)
The Philip Series is a course developed to explain the presence of Jesus and the gospel throughout Scripture.
This year in the Philip Series, Rev. Bijan Mirtolooi will lead us through five case studies of “applied theology:” taking an aspect of biblical teaching (doctrine) and applying it to our lives in personal and practical ways. Join us so that you too may ‘understand what you are reading’ and gain insight on how these Old Testament texts point to Christ and shape our life in community today.
