MAKE A RECURRING GIFT

I was able to quickly and easily update my recurring giving on the site. I appreciate how simple and easy it is to understand the process!

Offering Basket

Place your checks/cash in the offering on Sundays. Beginning January 1, 2017, please note that checks placed in the offering basket are recorded to the church where the check is received (e.g. Redeemer East Side, Redeemer West Side, Redeemer Downtown, Redeemer Lincoln Square) on the Sunday when they are received. If you intend your check to go to a different congregation you must write the name of the congregation in the memo line. For all checks meant for the Rise Campaign or another designated fund, you must write the fund in the memo line of the check. Remember, in order to receive the appropriate documentation you need for tax purposes your name and address must be clearly identifiable on your check.

Mail a Check

If you would like to mail a check to one of the Redeemer churches (please don't send cash), you can find the address for the church you wish to send your check to below:

For all checks meant for the Rise Campaign or another designated fund, you must write the fund name in the memo line of the check and designate Rise or the particular church's name with the specific fund like the Diaconate or Disaster Relief Fund. Checks are recorded on the postmark date on the envelope:

Redeemer Presbyterian Church West Side
Attn: West Side Finance Dept.
150 W. 83rd St
New York, NY 10024

Redeemer Presbyterian Church East Side
Attn: East Side Finance Dept.
150 W. 83rd St
New York, NY 10024

Redeemer Presbyterian Church Downtown
Attn: Downtown Finance Dept.
150 W. 83rd St
New York, NY 10024

Redeemer Presbyterian Church Lincoln Square
Attn: Lincoln Square Finance Dept.
150 W. 83rd St
New York, NY 10024

Redeemer East Harlem
Attn: East Harlem Finance Dept.
150 W. 83rd St
New York, NY 10024

If your bank has automated bill paying (i.e. JP Morgan/Chase) you can set up Redeemer Presbyterian Church to receive electronically generated checks, allowing you an easier way to be systematic in your giving.

Remember, in order to receive the appropriate documentation you need for tax purposes your name and address must be clearly identifiable on your check. For gifts made by mail at year end, IRS regulations require that the postmark stamped on your envelope bear the same year as that for which you intend to receive credit for the gift. We are precluded by law from crediting in December any gift received by mail postmarked in January of the subsequent year.

Bitcoin

Current Redeemer members and attenders can donate bitcoin and other cryptocurrency through Coinbase, Bitpay and Fidelity Charitable Gift Fund. If you have a Coinbase account, and prefer to send your gift to Redeemer's Coinbase account, you can do so by sending a Coinbase gift to our email for Coinbase donations at [email protected]. If you donate through Fidelity Charitable Gift fund, you will need to initiate a grant request to Redeemer Presbyterian Church of New York (Federal Tax ID 13-3555328) after you make your bitcoin donation. Please note that based on IRS policy, donors who donate over $500 should determine the fair market value of the donation by an independent qualified appraiser, and report this value to the IRS using IRS Form 8283.

Credit Card Reward Points

You can donate your American Express Membership Rewards Points. Redeemer partnered with JustGiving.com to receive AMEX Memebership Rewards Points donations.

1. Click here to give to Redeemer Presbyterian Church of New York.
2. Click Donate.
3. You will then select the dollar amount to donate ($1 = 142.86 AMEX points).
4. You will be asked to login or setup an account (if you don't have one already).
5. You will need to input the AMEX credit card number that is linked to your Membership Rewards Account with account number, CID code, address, etc.
6. You can also donate both points and cash. For example, you could donate $50 +7143 points = $100 donation.
7. Once you complete this screen, your donation will be final.
8. Please email [email protected] to indicate designation of your gift (Downtown, East Side, Lincoln Square, West Side, Missions, Diaconate, etc)

Employer Matching

Many companies match employees' gifts to charitable programs, and there are certain Redeemer divisions, such as Redeemer Counseling Services, that meet many companies' requirements for matching gift programs in the event that Redeemer Presbyterian Church does not qualify. Many companies do not allow matching gifts to religious organization or churches. Redeemer Counseling Services is a non-sectarian organization who accepts clients regardless of their religious beliefs. If you know your company has a matching gift program, or believe they might, please contact the individual at your company who handles matching gifts to obtain any paperwork on your company's policy and your eligibility as an employee. You may also want to ask the contact person for your company's matching gift program if Redeemer or Redeemer Counseling Services has received matching gifts in the past. In the event that Redeemer needs to complete any paperwork, or confirm completed donations, please direct all requests to Priscilla Dewing at [email protected] or 917-206-1427 or Redeemer, 1166 Avenue of the Americas, 16th Fl. New York, NY 10036.

Also, if you give through your company's United Way program, you may be able to write-in a regular gift to Redeemer Presbyterian Church through United Way. Typically, Redeemer does not have a 5 or 6 digit United Way donor number, but can be written in to receive United Way contributions.

Stock or Mutual Funds

You can donate appreciated securities - stock, mutual funds, bonds, ADRs (American Depository Receipts), and other 'property' - and often times receive a greater tax benefit than you would receive as compared to selling the appreciated securities and then donating cash. Donations of appreciated securities are recorded as a charitable gift at the appreciated amount. Also, by donating appreciated securities you can avoid recording a capital gain in the security (assuming the investment has appreciated and that you have held the asset for more than one year). You should check with a tax professional before initiating any transfer of securities. If you would like to donate securities you can initiate the transfer through your broker and request that the securities be transferred to:

Downtown:
JPMorgan Chase Bank, N.A.
Credit Acct No.: P72500 E21143004
DTC #: 0902
FFC Acct Name: Redeemer Presbyterian Church Downtown

East Side:
JPMorgan Chase Bank, N.A.
Cred Acct No.: P72500 E21058004
DTC#: 0902
FCC Acct Name: Redeemer Presbyterian Church East Side

West Side and Lincoln Square:
J.P. Morgan Clearing Corp.
Account Name: Redeemer Presbyterian Church
Account Number: 73301394
DTC #: 0352

Please contact Priscilla Dewing: 917-206-1427 or [email protected] if you are considering this kind of gift so that we can understand how you would like this gift to be utilized and send you a tax receipt in a timely manner.

For gifts of securities, please note that it may take four to five business days from the time your broker initiates a stock transfer to Redeemer until the settlement date when the proceeds are credited to Redeemer's account and recognized as a gift.

Donor Advised Funds

You can make a gift to Redeemer via a Donor Advised Fund, such as Fidelity Charitable Giving. Please keep in mind that your tax receipt will be issued by the Fund, not Redeemer. Redeemer will include any Donor Advised Fund gifts on your contribution statement, under the 'non tax deductible' section. Please advise the Donor Advised Fund with the instruction of which fund (eg, West Side, East Side, Downtown, Lincoln Square, Rise/NYP) the gift is intended.

Amazon Smile

Amazon has started a program called AmazonSmile whereby they will donate one-half percent of your purchases to the eligible charity of your choice. Redeemer is registered as an eligible charity and you may designate Redeemer to receive the .5% donation by clicking on AmazonSmile above or https://smile.amazon.com/. In order for Redeemer to receive credit you must use smile.amazon.com rather than www.amazon.com to make purchases. Please note that you will not receive a tax receipt for donations made via this program, as all donations are made by the AmazonSmile Foundation.

PayPal

Redeemer Presbyterian Church is registered as an eligible charity with Paypal Giving Fund. Donations can be made from an individual's Paypal account dashboard by navigating to 'Donate to a Cause' and then finding 'Redeemer Presbyterian Church' via the searchable database of charities. Donations can also be made using this direct link: https://www.paypal.com/fundraiser/charity/1365896. Please note that you will not receive a tax receipt from Redeemer for donations made via this program, as all donations are made by Paypal Giving Fund. Donations from Paypal Giving Fund may take 15-45 days to process, so please contact [email protected] should you make a donation close to year end so that we can be sure to include your gift in our annual giving reports.

Frequently Asked Questions

Q: Are there donor fees involved with online giving that will reduce the amount of my gift?
A: No. The full amount of your gift will be tax deductible.

Q: Are there administrative fees involved with online giving?
A: Only if the online gift is through credit or debit card. Redeemer pays 1.5% to 2.5% merchant fees for each credit or debit card gift. Fees are higher with AMEX as compared to Visa or Master Card. Please consider giving by electronic check by entering your account number and routing number when making larger gifts.

Q: Are there any special instructions or limitations when making an online gift?
A: We are able to accept gifts via echeck of up to $250,000 per week per person. Gifts can be made directly on our website. Credit card gift limits are set by your credit card provider.

In the event that you are planning to make a large gift at the end of the year with your credit card, you may want to call your credit card company in advance to pre-authorize your gift transaction, particularly if you plan on making multiple gifts to Redeemer within a short time span. Redeemer has found through experience that some credit card issuers may require your authorization to process your online gift. With the proper pre-authorization measures in place, we are able to accept gifts via Visa/Mastercard/Discover of up to $100,000 per single gift. Please contact us if you wish to make multiple Visa/Mastercard/Discover gifts greater than $100,000 in the aggregate. We are able to accept gifts via Amex of any amount. Credit card gifts can be made directly on our website.

Q: What should I know about IRS rules on year end tax deductible contributions for online gifts?
A: Echecks and credit card gifts that are made online and time stamped by 11:59pm on December 31st will be included in your tax deductible contribution statement for the year.

Q: What are the IRS rules on year end tax deductible contributions for mailed checks?
A: Mailed checks which are postmarked by December 31 by the US Postal Service will be included in your tax deductible contribution statement for the year. Please note that IRS regulations require that checks sent through overnight carriers (such as UPS or FedEx) must be recorded on the date that the charity receives the check (rather than a postmarked date). So if you send a donation via UPS or FedEx (or any carrier other than the US Postal service), Redeemer must record that donation on the date the check is received, rather than the date the check is mailed.

Q: What are the IRS regulations on year end tax deductible contributions for donated securities?
A: Gifts of marketable securities need to be received into our brokerage account by 4pm of the last business day of the year in order for the gift to be included in the tax deductible contribution statement for that year. Please keep in mind that these type of transfers can take several business days or even weeks to process. Redeemer must record the receipt of the securities on the day that the securities are visable and able to be traded in our brokerage account. Please consult with your tax accountant for further details on deductibility.
